14/10/17 - BUCS Saturday Results

After our 8s success against Abertay 2s in September in EUNC's first BUCS game of the year, the teams playing this Saturday were hoping to maintain this brilliant start. Our 3s-6s were all in action, with the 3s and 4s at home and the 5s and 6s away. The home matches saw the 3s and 4s make a great start to their Division 2 campaign with two wins, whilst the 5s and 6s came out strong but ultimately struggled in their respective games.

All in all a positive start for EUNC with lots to take away and work on in the coming weeks!

Overall results:

3s won 38-30 vs Aberdeen 1s 4s won 48-32 vs Dundee 1s 5s lost 22-17 vs Aberdeen 2s 6s lost 29-19 vs Robert Gordon 2s

Individual team reports:

3s vs Aberdeen 1s

The 3s came out in the first quarter with a bit of complacency and Aberdeen 1s took advantage of this, with the first few goals going to the away side. By the end of the first quarter the 3s had pulled it back but were still down by one goal, 12:11. After this however, the 3s came out fighting with some great turn overs in defence, resulting in us taking the lead by half time! We continued to lead until the last few minutes of the game, when Aberdeen started to gain momentum and came within 6 goals of our lead. Encouragingly, the 3s managed to keep their heads to hold on and came out victorious with an eight goal lead. A solid start to the season and a lot of lessons for the 3s to take to training before our next game.

4s vs Dundee 1s

The 4s came out strong from the start with three freshers debuts in centre court. Every quarter we managed to increase our lead, with some great shooting from Honor Myers and Ola Adeyemi, and some fab defensive combinations coming to light in the circle. Really well played all round for a very encouraging result that places us in good stead for the season.

5s vs Aberdeen 2s

Despite a valiant effort from the 5s away in Aberdeen, in the final quarter Aberdeen 2s managed to pull away and win 22-17. Regardless of the loss, the team worked well together getting the ball down the court and defence was strong throughout. An overall good result for the first game of the season.

6s vs RGU 2s

EUNC 6 travelled to Aberdeen to play RGU 2s. After a tough fight, with the disadvantage of only having 7 players and no subs, EUNC 6's lost 29-19 with Rhianna Queen being voted player of the match. We started off strong, with good shooting from Imogen Bates however after a tough match with no subs it allowed RGU to slowly take the lead, a good fight from EUNC and some good defensive work From Lucy Bowden and Camille Shone - well played all round.
