Match Reports: FOUR FOR FOUR

EUNC 5

Edinburgh 5s won 64-41 against Glasgow Caledonian 1s away in Glasgow. Although the match nearly didn't go ahead as Cale's umpire failed to show up. Shout out to Anna, our fab umpire, for umpiring the whole court. The 5s knew it would be a tough match, especially with only 8 players. But the team had a stormer! Everyone played well, with some great defending, lovely play down the centre court and amazing shooting. Hannah Emery got player of the match at WD with some great turn overs at the edge of the circle.

EUNC 3

The 3s went into the match knowing it would be a tough game. The girls came out strong with Jess and Jenny in the shooting circle proving to be a strong duo against the tough defence of Lauren Tait. Strong mid court from Lois and Rosina throughout allowed the girls to remain calm in pressured situations and take full control of the game. Louise Ferguson made some viral interception around the circle edge to help increase the lead for the 3s. Regardless of the Stirlings accurate shooting Claire and Heather fought tirelessly in the circle to get crucial interceptions and rebounds. The game ended 53-35 to the 3s which was a convincing and essential win for them as they continue to fight for that top position in the league.

EUNC 4

The 4s went to Dundee yet again for a match, this time v Dundee 2s. They were ready for a solid match after the previous weeks win over Dundee 1 but went out fighting. The 4s stormed the first quarter with a 21-4 lead. With an unfortunate injury in the second quarter and no subs, Dundee 2s were down to 6 players. The 4s however powered on and had a great win of 67-29. Some excellent play down the court from all team members which was reflected in the team's player of the match votes - every vote was for someone different! Jess Menzies got pom from Dundee for excellent attacking play and some sik shooting in the circle. EUNC 6

On Saturday, EUNC 6s played Stirling 2’s for the second weekend in a row. Having lost to them last weekend, they were determined to come out on top this time. After a very good team performance throughout the match, they managed to win 46-31. They started the game strong with some very good shooting by Millie Diss and Sophie Balsillie, ending the first quarter 14-6. The second quarter saw Stirling 2s close down the gap and EUNC 6s led by only two goals going into the third quarter. Bryony Robertson worked extremely hard throughout the match, getting some incredible interceptions. In the third and last quarters, some excellent defensive work by Eliza Waskett and Meghan Gleeson, and some very good shots by Rhianna Queen saw the EUNC 6s extend their lead and win 46-31. Well done to Gaya Gole for getting player of the match!!
